Do I need travel insurance?

Travel insurance is strongly recommended for all Homecoming Tours experiences to ensure you are fully protected throughout your journey.

We recommend selecting a policy that includes: Trip cancellation and interruption – Emergency medical coverage and evacuation – Coverage for delays, baggage loss, and unforeseen disruptions.

What is the new health entry requirement for Ghana?

The only mandatory health requirement for entry into Ghana is proof of yellow fever vaccination for all travelers aged 9 months and older, regardless of origin or transit route. This must be documented in the official International Certificate of Vaccination (ICVP), often referred to as the “yellow card.” Any costs associated with obtaining Yellow Fever or COVID-19 vaccinations are excluded.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

All deposits are non-refundable. If you cancel your participation, 50% of the full payment will be refunded up to one month before the trip. Payments for accommodations, meals, and sightseeing are non-refundable and non-transferable.

What about flights to and from Accra?

Participants are responsible for arranging and covering the cost of their flights to and from Accra, Ghana (Airport code; ACC). Please ensure you arrive in Accra by 11:59 PM GMT on your arrival date. Book your flight back using your departure date of your tour.

Can I use my mobile phone while in Ghana?

Yes, mobile phone coverage is widely available in Ghana’s major cities and tourist areas. However, coverage may be limited in rural or remote areas. Before travel- ing, activate global roaming with your service provider or purchase a local GSM SIM card upon arrival for affordable connectivity.

Yes, Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted in Ghana. However, American Express cardholders may find limited acceptance, especially outside of Accra. It’s best to carry cash or take necessary precautions when using cards.

The following items are not included in the Homecoming Tours package and are the responsibility of the participant:
- Flights to/from Accra – Participants are responsible for arranging and covering the cost of their flights to and from Accra, Ghana.
- Travel Insurance – Travel insurance is not included. Participants are strongly encouraged to purchase comprehensive coverage for medical expenses, trip cancellations, lost luggage, and other potential travel-related issues.
- Alcoholic Beverages – Alcoholic beverages are not included and must be purchased separately.
- Incidental Room Charges – Personal expenses incurred at accommodations, such as minibar usage, room service, or other incidental charges, are not included.
- Activities Outside the Itinerary – Any activities not listed in the itinerary must be arranged and paid for separately.
- Individually Selected Activities – Activities chosen by the Client during their free time, such as dining at restaurants or additional sightseeing, are not included.
- Tips and Gratuities – Tips and gratuities for experience providers and venues are not included and are at the Participant’s discretion.
- Visa Procurement Costs – The cost of obtaining a visa for Ghana is not included.
- Vaccination Costs – Expenses related to obtaining Yellow Fever or COVID-19 vaccinations are not included.

Can I arrive earlier or extend my stay beyond the tour dates?
Yes—guests are welcome to arrive earlier or depart later than the official tour dates.
However, please note that our accommodations are secured specifically for the designated tour window. Any stay outside of these dates will require additional coordination and will incur additional room costs, which will be the responsibility of the guest.
Extended stays are subject to hotel availability, as rooms are only guaranteed during the official tour period. While we’re happy to assist in coordinating pre- or post-tour stays, availability and rates cannot be guaranteed.
For the most seamless experience—including airport transfers and full participation in scheduled activities—we recommend planning your travel within the official tour window.
