  • Day One – December 27, 2020

Important notes

  • Do I need a Visa?
    1. If you do not have a Ghana Passport, you need a visa.

     

  • Trip Cancelation Policy
    1. Trip deposit is non-refundable.
    2.  Any cancellations will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of other monies paid plus the cost to wire refund in order to cover Homecoming Tour administrative costs.
    3. All monies paid within 90 days of departure date, 65% of payment is non-refundable.
    4. All monies paid within 60 days of departure date, 95% of payment is non-refundable.
    5. All monies paid within 45 days of departure date, 100% of payment is non-refundable.
    6. All balances will be due 30 days before the trip  date.
  • Trip Itinerary

    The itinerary is subject to change for the best interest of the traveler at anytime. Traveler will be notified of any changes. See Tour Schedule above for updates.

  • Visa Requirement / Checklist
    1. Visa Application Forms to be completed and signed
    2. (2) recent passport-sized photographs to be pasted or stapled in designated place on application form. The passport-sized photographs should (taken not more than six months)
    3. Business, Residential addresses and contact telephone numbers to be provided
    4. Occupation
    5. Financial means to be indicated
    6. Proposed date of travel
    7. Names and Addresses of references and/ Accommodation in Ghana (if it is a hotel, details are to be provided)
    8. Minors and children under the age of 18 years traveling to Ghana need parents written authorisation including copies of Parents’ Passports and Residence Permit as well as a copy of the Child’s birth certificate.
    9. Passport must be valid for at least (6) six months to expiration
    10. Present a Photocopy of your round trip ticket OR Travel Itinerary
    11. Copy of U.S. Permanent Residence Card, Student ID Card or a valid U.S. Work Visa
    12. In addition to original passport, all applicants are required to attach a photocopy of the bio-data page of their passports to completed forms
    13. The under-mentioned categories are Prohibited Immigrants:
      • A person of unsound mind.
      • A person declared by medical personnel as medically unsound.
      • A person considered to be a security risk.
      • A person against whom there is a deportation order in force.
      • A person who has been sentenced in a foreign country for extradition under the Extradition Act 1960.
    14. Acceptable methods of payment:
      • Money Order / Bank draft issued to ‘The Mission of Ghana’
      • Bank Card payment at Counter
    15. Refund Refund Policy:
      • Passport and Visa application fees are non-refundable whether your application is successful or not.If you pay for an Express service and your application isn’t processed within the specified time, you can claim a refund. You’ll be refunded the extra service fee – not the standard fee.However, the Consulate general won’t refund the fee if your application wasn’t processed within the specified time due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control.To request a refund, contact our customer service team at refunds@ghanaconsulatenewyork.org.     16. Processing Period: 
      • Please note standard application will take 7-10 business days from receipt of hard copy of application at the Mission. 24hr and 72hr processing services are also available at an additional fee.
  • Conditions for the Issue of Visa
    1. Visas may be granted to personnel of international organisations and visitors to Ghana for tourism, study, business or transit.
    2. The visa may be granted for single or multiple entry.
    3. Visas are valid for a period of three months and must be utilised within three months of the date of issue. Visas valid for up to one year may be granted for specific purposes.
    4. Visitors travelling on Business are required to furnish evidence of the fact, such as a letter from their firm, while those travelling at the invitation of Ghanaian nationals or residence or Ghanaian institutions should furnish a letter of invitation from their hosts.
    5. Visitors may be required to provide a return or a through ticket to a country which they have the right of admission or may be required to show evidence of sufficient funds for the duration of their stay in the country. Prospective employees may undertake employment within the authorised immigrant quota. Emergency visas may be issued at entry points to travellers who arrive from a country where there is no Ghanaian diplomatic or consular representation, but such applications must be authorised by the Director of the Immigration Service through their sponsors before they arrive Ghana.
    6. Applications for further extensions to visitors’ permit must be made to the Director of the Ghana Immigration Service for consideration. Tourists may be allowed a period of stay of three months if the Ghana Immigration Service is satisfied that such tourists have sufficient means of financial support.
    7. Persons who enter the country as visitors are not permitted to take up employment even if there happens to be a vacancy on the Immigrant Quota of a prospective employer.
    8. Professionals (doctors, lawyers, nurses, etc), are required to provide particulars of their qualifications in order that the eligibility of their registration may be determined.
    9. Applicants on a VISIT to Ghana must provide a letter of invitation from their host in Ghana.

    Travellers are strongly advised to ensure that they have all the necessary documents before arriving in Ghana.

  • Entry Requirements for Ghana
    1. All visitors to Ghana must be in possession of a valid passport or legal travel documents.
    2. All visitors entering Ghana must have valid entry visas or, in the case of Commonwealth nationals, entry permits, issued by a Ghana diplomatic mission or consulate abroad or any other visa issuing authority mandated by the Ghana Government to act on its behalf . (ECOWAS nationals and those of other countries with which the Government of Ghana has specific bilateral agreements, are exempted).
    3. All travellers above nine(9) months coming into or transiting through Ghana are required to have been vaccinated against Yellow Fever at least Ten(10) days from the proposed date of travel and where already vaccinated, provide evidence(certificate) indicating the duration of a vaccination status of not more than Ten(10) years before entering Ghana.
  • Visa Requirement Amidst Covid
    1. Passengers must arrive in Ghana with a negative COVID-19 test result that is not more than 72 hours old, from a reputable health facility
    2. Every passenger will be required to disembark in Ghana wearing a face mask
    3. All passengers will be required to undergo a mandatory COVID-19 test at the Accra Kotoka International Airport on arrival. Cost for the test will be borne by the passenger.
    4. Test results will be ready in 30 minutes, and those who test negative will be discharged to go home while those who test positive will be handed over to the Ghanaian Health Officials.
